Walk for Water this March!

Green-Schools are delighted to host our fun and educational ‘Walk for Water’ events in three locations across Ireland this March:

• Glendalough National Park, Wicklow on Tuesday the 19th of March – register here
• Cong Woods, Cong, Mayo on Wednesday the 20th of March – register here
• Gougane Barra, Cork on Friday the 22nd of March – register here

The events run from approx. 9.30am- 1.30pm and involve children from Senior Primary and Secondary schools walking 6 kilometres through beautiful scenery, with up to 6 litres of water in a backpack, to raise awareness about water scarcity in developing countries. The standard allocation* is 10 students + 2 teachers per school. We will also help to interpret the landscape on the day, provide a bag to carry the water in and some snacks.

These events are being organised as part of World Water Day 2024 and the theme this year is ‘Water For Peace’ to raise awareness about the urgent need, within and between countries, to unite around protecting and conserving our most precious resource. Learn more about what you can do here. This theme links with the Global Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

If you have any questions about the event you wish to attend or about the Water theme please contact email us at water@greenschoolsireland.org.

We hope to see you there!

*Additional spaces may become available if requested in the registration form subject to availability. We will contact you to let you know if your spaces are confirmed.
